VA Process >> 5 Step Process for Getting
Projects Done
The ATTAC Method
I've developed a 5 Step Process for
how I work with clients to identify their needs and find solutions efficiently and effectively. To get
started with clients, we attack their to-do
list using this method:
Assessment: We begin by identifying
client goals, short and long term. The client fills out forms,
as part of the intake process, in which I ask a lot of questions
about their business and goals. It helps us to get off to
a great start.
Triage: Next we spend some time ferreting
out which short term goals are most pressing. The top priorities
emerge and then they are off your list and on mine.
Timelines: Here we break down the large
projects into smaller pieces, determine the order for completion,
and how much time (roughly) to devote to each task.
Example: A client wants to publish an ezine.
There are several parts to this project: writing and editing
the content, designing, creating the HTML, compiling a distribution
list, selecting and enrolling with a distribution service,
testing, etc.
My experience in project management helps
me determine the deliverables and break the project down.
Analysis: I keep the client involved
in the process every step of the way. Clients receive progress
reports and drafts for review (usually via email) so they
know how projects are going. This makes it easy to change
course and adjust as we go along.
Completion: It's very exciting
when we get a big project done. I'm a part of my client's
team and share in their success!
