- Moves you forward on a project
Do you have a project that you just can’t get to or can’t figure out? This is what got me started with an intern. I wanted to make new strides in my social media marketing, and had hit a couple of roadblocks. Hiring an intern brought my projects to the forefront, and we tackled the issues and crossed some important items off my to-do list.
- Helps you to get clear and create systems
There’s nothing like having to explain something to another to force you to get clear on what you want and need. For ease of working together, you and your intern will naturally create systems. For example, if the intern is going to research social media content for you, you’ll want to give her search guidelines and then create an efficient way to review her work product.
- Gives you the experience of delegating
Entrepreneurs are natural “do-it-yourselfers” and often have trouble delegating because they can do it faster themselves. There reaches a point, however, when you can’t do it all and continue to grow your business.
