Article Marketing: 10 Steps to Getting Started

I’ve seen arti­cle mar­ket­ing bring a lot of traf­fic to my clients’ web­site. It’s been a few years since I was in the arti­cle mar­ket­ing trenches, so I needed a refresher course myself. Here are the steps:

  1. Cre­ate an account.
    I’m a big fan of They con­tinue to be one of the top 5 arti­cle sites; they’re user friendly; and they have excel­lent help con­tent and videos. What’s not to love? Start with them, and see how it goes, and if it goes well, either stick with them or expand to other sites.
  2. Cre­ate a pro­file.
    Cre­at­ing a pro­file is easy, but it helps to have a pro­fes­sional look­ing image of your­self handy (ide­ally 240x300 pix­els). Have your social media chan­nel and web­site links handy as well as a short bio.
  3. Cre­ate a resource box.
    I had trou­ble find­ing this, but it is in the writing/editing tab area. This is the box all about you where you can include your name, busi­ness name, tagline, and a call to action for your unique sell­ing propo­si­tion. This is an impor­tant area, so I def­i­nitely rec­om­mend watch­ing their help­ful video. You may have more than one out­go­ing link in this box. Just remem­ber, though, that your resource box can­not be more than 15% the size of your arti­cle body. [Read more…]
